144022 at Bare Lane.3 viewsHaving departed from Heysham Harbour at 13.15, 144022 runs across the level crossing at Bare Lane, as it prepares to call en-route to Leeds. Having reversed at Morecambe, the unit will join the WCML at Morecambe South Junction for the short hop to Lancaster, where it will reverse and run along the WCML to Carnforth, taking the former Midland route through Wennington to Settle Junction and Skipton. 29th January 2011.
Goxhill Level Crossing.3 viewsIn time-honoured fashion, the level crossing gates at Goxhill, swing across Howe Lane, pending the arrival of the 13.00 Cleethorpes to Barton On Humber service on the 23rd April 2011. Goxhill retains its semaphore signals, controlled from the former Great Central Railway Signalbox, dating from 1910.
153363 & Thornton Abbey.3 views153363 accelerates away from the stop at Thornton Abbey with the 13.00 Cleethorpes to Barton on Humber, on the 30th April 2011. To the rear of the unit can be seen the gatehouse of the ruined abbey. The abbey was built in 1139 and was closed down by Henry VIII in 1539 as part of the dissolution.

01001 - Holyhead Breakwater Railway.3 viewsStored at the rear of the Depot at Holyhead Breakwater, Class 01 01001 was still carrying original BR black livery with the early lion & wheel emblem in July 1978.
The short isolated railway connected a quarry to the Harbour Breakwater, where stone was deposited for sea defences.
The loco was built by Andrew Barclay at Kilmarnock in 1956, carrying the number 11504 before being numbered D2954. Previous to finding employment at Holyhead, 01001/002 both worked from Stratford Depot in East London.
Class 150/2, 150243 approaches Rufford.3 viewsA tranquil scene at Rufford late on an Autumn afternoon, as 150243 arrives with an Ormskirk to Preston service on October 29th 1988. To the rear of the unit can be seen one of the semaphore signals that were controlled from the box at Rufford. The box and its mechanical signalling just had a week left before replacement by a modern cabin and colour-lights. The Rufford branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal dominates this view, then a quiet backwater, but now transformed with marinas both sides of the canal.

The Ormskirk services were normally in the hands of Derby built Class 108s and the appearance of a Cravens unit was not common.
