D3871 (08704) at Bury South.1 viewsClass 08, D3871 (ex 08704), stands at Bury South with Mark I Coaches W9356 & W4350 ready to form the 11.00 Bury to Ramsbottom service as part of the East Lancashire Railway 'BR Green Day' on January 5th 2013. The loco was a product of Horwich Works, new in February 1960, its first home was Lancaster Green Ayre Shed (24J).

Class 14, D9531 at Bury South.1 viewsClass 14, D9531 powers the 11.05 Rawtenstall to Heywood at Bury South on January 5th 2013. Always a treat to see a teddy bear working, the loco has recently returned to service after a long overhaul. D9531 emerged new from Swindon Works in February 1965 and was withdrawn in December 1967. Designed for shunting and trip work (a diesel pannier tank replacement), the work that they were designed for was withering away as construction of the 56 strong fleet progressed.

Class 117 DMU at Bury South.1 viewsClass 117 2-Car DMU formed of cars W51382 & W51339 departs from Bury with a well-filled 12.40 Bury to Heywood working on January 5th 2013. Built by Pressed Steel as 3-Car units, they were all used on the Western Region from new, but in the 1990s some of the units ended up in the West Midlands and Scotland.
