Beyond the loco and the station throat is the Cob stretching away, with the buildings at Boston Lodge Works just visible in the far distance.

Double Fairlie - 'Iarll Meirionnydd/Earl of Merioneth' arrives at Porthmadog.1 viewsHaving just run over the cob at Porthmadog, Double Fairlie locomotive, 'Iarll Meirionnydd/Earl of Merioneth', is almost at the end of its 13.5 mile journey with the 15.15 from Blaenau Ffestiniog on the 6th May 2012. The loco was carrying the headboard used on the opening day of through services to Blaenau Ffestiniog, 30 years ago, in May 1982.

On the Down Side, there is still a through road and a platform loop, on the Up Side all trains use the platform road, the through road has now been lifted. The former LNWR Signalbox dating from 1902 controls the layout here.
