31217 at Farington - Ormskirk Line.6 viewsIn Railfreight Coal Sector Livery, Class 31 31217 was working a track component recovery train from Preston Dock Street to Midge Hall on the 17th September 1989. Items were being recovered from the former Up Line that was taken out of use in 1983. The train is seen approaching Church Lane Bridge Farington.

C69/C08 DM 5606 at Notting Hill Gate.0 viewsC69 DM 5606 stands at the rear of a Moorgate to Edgware Road service at Notting Hill Gate on February 9th 2013. This car was originally 5505 but was badly damaged by a bomb in July 2005. The car was extensively rebuilt and is now classified as a C08 Car. This is the second car to carry the number 5606, the original 5606 was withdrawn from service in 1991 and scrapped in 1993.

GBRf 66746 at Selby.0 viewsComing off what was formerly the ECML, GBRf class 66 66746 passes cautiously through Selby station with a loaded container working from Felixstowe on May 17th 2014. The train is heading for the nearby Potter Group Distribution Centre situated at Barlby just north of the swingbridge over the River Ouse.

47441 at Daisyfield, Blackburn.0 viewsWith some well known landmarks in Blackburn town-centre on the skyline, 47441 accelerates a diverted Birmingham New Street to Edinburgh service away from Daisyfield Junction on March 11th 1989. The train is heading for Hellifield and the S&C. In the foreground is the derelict site of Daisyfield Goods Yard, once a busy location serving the local Cotton Mills that were a major employer in East Lancashire. 47441 emerged from Crewe Works in February 1964 as D1557. The loco was withdrawn in December 1992.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
