TPE 185140 approaches Weeton.0 mol gekuckt ginnLooking more like a location in the New Forest than on the Fylde, First TransPennine Express Class 185, 185140 runs between Singleton & Weeton with the 14.44 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport service on Bank Holiday Monday, June 4th 2012. The unit is passing the site of a serious collision between a ballast train and a Colne to Fleetwood 6-car, Cravens DMU in July 1961. The leading DMU car ended up in the field and there were seven fatalities.

J94 'Walkden' at Lockside Road Crossing.0 mol gekuckt ginnJ94 0-6-0ST 'Walkden' crosses the Open Crossing at Lockside Road with a freight photo charter on August 3rd 2012.
Built by Hunslet of Leeds in 1944, Works Number 3144, the loco was despatched to France numbered WD75105 as part of the war effort. It was later sold to the Netherlands Railways and eventually worked in their coal industry until the late 1970s. When repatriated to the UK the loco was restored using many components salvaged from other J94s at the former NCB Workshops at Walkden near Manchester.

RES Propelling Control Vehicle 94306 at Hellifield.0 mol gekuckt ginnObtained from DB Schenker as a source of spares for the West Coast Railway carriage fleet, Withdrawn RES liveried PCV 94306 (306) was in the WCRC sidings at Hellifield on May 5th 2014. The vehicle was converted from a Class 307 Driving Trailer formerly numbered 75112. The conversions were done by Hunslet-Barclay at Kilmarnock between 1994 & 1996. When the contract to carry mail was lost by EWS in 2004 the vans became redundant. 94306 had been in store at Tyne Yard.

47303 at Farington (Ormskirk Line).4 mol gekuckt ginn Sunday engineering work on the Preston-Ormskirk route at Farington on July 7th 1991. Adjacent to Church Lane bridge, and with the houses on the west end of Coote Lane as a backdrop, a worn looking 47303 in plain Railfreight two-tone grey livery stands as redundant track materials are recovered on the former Up Line. The line from Farington Curve Junction to Midge Hall was retained as double track up to 1983. The train was also patch ballasting on the remaining operational line, hence the Sealion Hopper.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 mol gekuckt ginnAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!10. 37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 mol gekuckt ginn37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 mol gekuckt ginnWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.07. November 2015
