Fowler diesel shunter at Leyland Motors.skoðað 6 sinnumJohn Fowler 0-4-0 diesel shunter, works number 4210108, built in 1955, is seen in the sidings at the Leyland Motors Farington Factory in April 1982. In the far background can be seen the foundry, just one part of the then vast Leyland Motors empire, that stretched across the town, creating employment for thousands, and carrying the name 'Leyland' on the commercial vehicles produced here, to all parts of the world.

Class 40, 40013-'Andania' at Blackburn.skoðað 3 sinnumAfter being withdrawn from active service in October 1984, 40013 became a London Midland Region Exhibition Loco, and was towed to Open Days and Gala Days as required. Complete with some gaudy embellishments and carrying its name once more, the loco was stabled in the sidings adjacent to Blackburn Station on the evening of the 27th July 1985. The loco was eventually stored at Crewe in 1988 before passing into preservation. All of the buildings in the background in this view have since been demolished.

Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!10. des, 2015

This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history.
