03079 at Doncaster Works.5 viewsClass 03, 03079 has returned to its birthplace at Doncaster Works, for overhaul in October 1979. Built in 1960, the shunter had been allocated to North Eastern Region Depots and was a Gateshead machine when this picture was taken. Fame was still in the future for 03079, as in 1983 it migrated south to Eastleigh, before being transferred across the Solent to the Isle of Wight in April 1984. It was withdrawn from service in 1996, and was eventually preserved at the Derwent Valley Railway near York.

736 turns at Little Bispham.1 viewsIlluminated Car 736-'HMS Blackpool' enters the turning circle at Little Bispham whilst working one of the Heritage Tram Promenade Tours on the 21st April 2012. 736 is complete with 'Guns', Radar and a Helicopter on the rear section of the roof!

The route from here to East Lancashire via Copy Pit can be seen curving away to the right.

Class 06, 06003 at Rowsley South.1 viewsIn faded BR blue livery, Barclay Class 06, 06003 was at Rowsley South on August 25th 2013. The loco is the sole survivor of a class of 35 built by Andrew Barclay & Sons of Kilmarnock for use on the Scottish Region. 06003 was built in 1959 as D2420. The loco ended its days far from Scotland...at Reading Signal Works numbered in the departmental series as 97804.

Oxmarsh Level Crossing, New Holland.0 viewsSunlight & Shade on the timber level crossing gates at Oxmarsh Crossing on August 31st 2014. There is only one operational line here, the other track that once led from New Holland Pier is currently out of use. Double track working re-commences to the south of the level crossing via a crossover.

150277 departs from Bolton.0 viewsWith overnight frost still on the sleepers in the bay platform, 150277 gets underway from Bolton having called with the 09.37 Blackburn to Manchester Victoria on December 6th 2014.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
