Below the train is Canal Street, a reminder that the nearby Rochdale Canal was the first trans-pennine route here, opening in 1804.
London Transport L94 & No.12 at Railfest York.1 visualizado (s)London Transport Pannier Tank, L94 and former Metropolitan Railway Electric Loco, No.12 -'Sarah Siddons' stand side by side on display at Railfest on June 9th 2012. The former GWR Pannier Tank, was built by North British in 1929 numbered 7752, and the electric was built by Metropolitan Vickers in 1922. The Pannier Tank was operated by London Transport from 1959 to 1971.

Class 76, 76001 at Reddish Depot.3 visualizado (s)Withdrawn pioneer Class 76, 76001 keeps company with other redundant Tommies and some interesting rolling stock at Reddish Depot on July 12th 1981. The cable drum carrier in the foreground, (Ex Lowmac Wagon) ADB904685 had been part of the Guide Bridge based electrification maintenance train, but with closure of the Woodhead route a week away, the need for the various specialist wagons had passed and like the class 76s would eventually end up being scrapped.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 visualizado (s)As the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!10 Dez, 2015

This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.07 Nov, 2015
