Balloon 700 at Little Bispham.1 viewsIn a ghostly white base livery, pioneer Balloon double deck car number 700, built by English Electric in 1934, has just come out of the turning circle at Little Bispham on the 21st April 2012. The tram was working the Heritage Tram Promenade Tour. 700 has been fitted with widened door entrances to enable it to use the low height platforms installed as part of the upgraded system.

86259/E3137 & Pendolino at Farington Junction.1 viewsTwo generations of WCML front-line motive power at Farington Junction on June 14th 2012. 86259/E3137 was stabled in the loco exchange sidings, ready to take over the Southbound Cumbrian Mountain Express from 46233 -'Duchess pf Sutherland'. The 17.36 Lancaster to London Euston Virgin Pendolino passes by on the Up Fast.

S Stock 21097 at Harrow-on-the-Hill.0 viewsThe new order on the Metropolitan. S Stock car 21097 brings a train from Uxbridge into Harrow-on-the-Hill whilst en-route to Aldgate on September 9th 2012. The track layout here dates back to the modernisation of the Metropolitan Line in the late 1950s & early 1960s, when the section from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Watford South Junction was quadrupled and an underpass was installed here to avoid conflicting movements for services to and from Uxbridge.

East Coast Class 91, 91114 departs from York.1 viewsJust a handful of the 31 strong class 91 fleet still carry the dark blue base livery of former operator GNER. 91114 departs from York with the 07.00 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley service on March 16th 2013. 91114 is unique as it is equipped with two pantographs fitted in November 2012 as a trial.

ATW 158834 at Conwy.0 views158834 emerges into daylight as it exits the westbound tube of the Conwy Tubular Bridge whilst working the 07.08 Birmingham International to Holyhead service on November 23rd 2013. Alongside is Conwy Castle constructed by Edward I between 1283 & 1289.

London Midland 350373 at Preston.2 viewsOne of 10 new Class 350/3 EMUs built for London Midland, 350373 is the lead unit of the 8-Car 17.06 Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport stood at Preston on August 1st 2014. Three units of the London Midland batch have been sub-leased to First TransPennine Express to temporarily increase capacity on the services between Manchester Airport and Glasgow/Edinburgh.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
