Blackpool Centenary Car 642 at Pleasure Beach.0 viewsBuilt in 1986, Centenary car number 642 stands on the turning circle at the Pleasure Beach on the afternoon of the 5th November 2011. These cars incorporating parts supplied by East Lancashire Coachbuilders at Blackburn, will be withdrawn from service at Blackpool after the 6th November 2011, when the tramway closes for the winter.

NSE EMU 308149 at Croft Street Sidings, Preston.6 viewsWithdrawn and faded Network South East liveried class 308 & 305 electric units were stabled in Croft Street Sidings, adjacent to Preston Power Box on the 4th June 1994. The units were en-route to MC Metals in Glasgow for scrapping and had been recessed at Preston possibly due to a hot axle-box. Croft Street sidings are where Preston MPD had been situated.

S Stock at Croxley Green.1 viewsNew S Stock forming a Watford to Baker Street service, crosses the Grand Union Canal at Croxley Green on June 23rd 2012. Visible through the bridge is Cassio Bridge Lock, one of the 137 locks on the Grand Union Canal between London and Birmingham.
When the Metropolitan Line services are diverted to Watford Junction, a new link will be built from Croxley Station to the old Croxley Green Branch, and the section of railway seen here running back to the Watford Metropolitan Terminus, will cease to be used.

Swindon Cross-Country Class 120 DMU at Salwick.4 viewsLate on an Autumnal afternoon, one the stylish Swindon built Cross-Country Class 120 DMUs, with Driving Motor Second Lavatory M51588 leading, passes Salwick with a Blackpool North to Manchester Victoria service on October 29th 1983. Just visible through the bridge is Salwick station then complete with its Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway island platform canopy. On the extreme left is the cobbled access road to the former goods yard.

142042 at Warpers Moss Lane, Burscough.0 views142042 catches the evening light as it passes Warpers Moss Lane at Burscough, whilst working the 19.06 Ormskirk to Preston on April 18th 2014. The unit is passing over the now removed connection that went down the curve to Burscough Bridge on the Wigan to Southport line.

483006 departs from Brading (Arnolds Yard).1 viewsViewed from the new housing development at Arnolds Yard Brading, 483006 accelerates away northbound whilst working the 16.38 Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head on July 10th 2014. The development is on the site of the small goods yard that also received coal supplies by rail until the mid-1960s to serve the local coal merchant - George Arnold.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
