47627 at Midge Hall.6 viewsOn Sunday, 5th May 1991, 47226 had worked a track scrap recovery train from Preston Dock Street to Midge Hall, recovering items from the former Up Line taken out of use in 1983. At Midge Hall the 47 expired and assistance was sent for from Preston. Possibly the only time an InterCity Mainline livered locomotive has worked along the Ormskirk Line, 47627 -'County of Oxford' has come to haul the train back to Preston.
08745 at Sheffield Tinsley Depot.4 viewsWith a curious faded blue livery that looks as though it has either been patch painted or scrubbed clean, 08745-'The Tyke' stands by the wash plant at the side of Sheffield Tinsley Depot on 9th July 1994.
The loco emerged from Crewe Works in November 1960 numbered D3913. It was sent new, North of the Border to Glasgow Polmadie Depot (66A).
The loco was last operated by Freightliner and is currently stored at Southampton Maritime.
Class 321s, 321404 & 321416 at Preston.4 viewsPossibly the only occasion on which Class 321 EMUs have visited Preston, 321404 & 321416 both in Network South East Livery stand in the PCD platform at Preston Station on Saturday 4th November 1989. The units had just arrived back with 1T11, a return charter from London Euston that had been organised by the NSPCC. The outward journey had departed Preston at 07.10, and arrival back in the evening was 21.30. The two units returned South, ECS at 21.45.

Class 308 144 at Braintree.1 views144 has reached journeys end at Braintree having worked the 7 miles from Witham on April 28th 1980. Braintree has been the terminus of the line since the line beyond here to Bishops Stortford was closed to passenger traffic in 1952. The branch was electrified in 1977. The 308 was one of the units transferred north in the 1990s to work the newly electrified Aire Valley services in West Yorkshire.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015
