Ventnor West.0 viewsLooking back towards St Lawrence from the were the buffer stops were sited, this was the view on the 15th July 2011. The station had two parallel platforms, although only the one adjacent to the buildings was ever used. Castle Close is built over the trackbed, and where the bungalows are on the right of this scene, was site of the small goods yard. The car is stood on what would have been the platform track. The telegraph pole in the distance, is around the spot where the small signalbox was sited.

158851 at Hall Royd Junction.1 viewsTwo-Car Class 158, 158851 brings the 07.29 Blackpool North to York service under the span that takes Hallroyd Lane over the five sets of tracks on the approach to Hall Royd Junction at Todmorden on the 12th May 2012. Most of these trans-pennine services are operated by three-car 158s, but as here, two-car sets occasionally stand in.

485041 arrives at Ryde St Johns Road.0 viewsIn Network South East livery, Four Car 485041 arrives at Ryde St Johns Road with a Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin service on the 19th July 1989. Driving Car number 1 is leading, it was built by Metro-Cammell in 1934 and was a mere 55 years old at the time of this picture, 22 years of which had been spent on the Isle of Wight.

Nottingham Express Transit, 203 crosses the A6008, Nottingham.1 viewsNET 203 crosses over the A6008 as it departs from Station Street with a service to Hucknall on October 13th 2012. The tram is on the formation of the former Great Central mainline, the bridge here was a replacement for a bowstring girder bridge demolished in 1975. The NET system is operated with 15 Bombardier 'Incentro' Trams built in 2002/3.

57301 & 390020 at Bamber Bridge.5 viewsIn a sight unlikely to be repeated, Virgin Class 57/3 57301 -'Scott Tracy' hauls Pendolino 390020 with the diverted 09.02 Carlisle to London Euston service on May 6th 2006. The ensemble is passing the rusting sidings into the Bowker Logistics site, just west of Bamber Bridge, the private siding opening with much ceremony in 1990, but now disused.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

37013 at Farington Curve Junction.0 views37013 trundles along the Up Slow as it approaches Farington Curve Junction whilst working the Saturday only Blackpool North to Sheffield formed of Mark 1 stock on August 13th 1983. This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

08954 at Plymouth.2 viewsWith the roof tops of Plymouth as a backdrop, 08954 was shunting parcel and mail vans at Plymouth station on July 26th 1980. This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
