47303 at Farington (Ormskirk Line)
On the early morning of July 7th 1991, 47303 stands on the gradient at Farington on the Preston-Ormskirk line with a track component recovery train that was collecting items from the former up line, disused since 1983. The train was also patch ballasting on the remaining single line, using the Ballast Hopper behind the 47. In the far distance was the site of Moss Lane Junction, where until 1972 a direct line ran to Lostock Hall on the East Lancashire route.
