Kearsley Power Station Electric Loco.
Kearsley Power Station, near Bolton had a 500v DC electric railway system that connected the power station to the exchange sidings that were adjacent to the Bolton to Manchester line. Three similar steeplecab locos handled the coal trains on the steeply graded line. Kearsley Number 3, built by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns in 1944, works number 7078, is seen in the power station on 13th May 1982. Kearsley Power station closed in 1980 and has been demolished, housing now covers the site.
