507021 stands at Kirkby.
Until 1977, Kirkby was a through station on what had been the former Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway main line from Liverpool Exchange to Manchester Victoria. With the extension of the third rail from Walton Junction the station was split into two halves, similar to the arrangement at Ormskirk with the electrics terminating on one side of a stop block, and onward diesel services at the other side. 507021 garners passengers ready for its next trip to Liverpool Central on June 8th 2013.
