Class 89, 89001 at Doncaster Works.
Built at Crewe in 1986, the one-off Class 89, 89001 was withdrawn from active BR service in 1992, carrying InterCity Swallow livery. The 6,000hp locomotive was bought by a consortium of Brush employees who felt that the unique machine was too good to be lost forever. Still in its livery as withdrawn from Bounds Green Depot, 89001 was one of the exhibits at the Doncaster Works Open Day on the 9th July 1994. Within two years, the loco was back on its ECML stamping ground with new operator, GNER.
