142049 at Daisyfield, Blackburn.
On the Blackburn - Hellifield Line the Ribble Valley Rail Group campaigned for passenger services to be restored to the route. On the 11th July 1987, 142049 was used on a number of special workings between Blackburn & Clitheroe Stations. The unit is seen here at Daisyfield Level Crossing, east of Blackburn. 142049 was the last first series class 142 to enter service on BR. The unit was sent new from Derby to VIA Rail in Canada, and was exhibited at Expo 86. This explains the almost ex-works condition.
