Buffer Fitted 43080 at Preston.
Buffer Fitted HST Power Car 43080 stands at Preston on the 28th August 1993. The power car was a small batch of eight power cars fitted with buffers in 1987 as they were used as temporary DVTs on the electrified East Coast Main Line using Mk3 stock, pending the introduction of the Mk4s & DVTs. 43080 eventually passed to Virgin and via a period in store at Long Marston, is now part of the Grand Central fleet fitted with an MTU engine, numbered 43480 and plying the ECML once again.
