Class 87, 87014 at Farington Junction.7 viewsClass 87, 87014-'Knight of the Thistle', draws to a stand on the approach to Farington Junction on 12th October 1985, with a southbound ECS working on the Up Slow Line. All services were using the slow lines and being hand signalled through the area, due to re-modelling work taking place at Euxton Junction. The scene here is much changed, with the site of Lostock Hall Carriage Sidings above the train, now covered by a housing development.

1973 Tube Stock at Rayners Lane.3 viewsThere are the first signs of Autumn colour starting to appear in the trees, as 1973 Tube Stock with 196 leading, emerges from the reversing siding at Rayners Lane on the 22nd October 2011. The train will form a service to Cockfosters on the Piccadilly Line.

156440 approaches Burscough Bridge.1 viewsPreparations are in hand at Burscough Bowling Club for a Sunday afternoon match, as 156440 arrives at Burscough Bridge with the 11.33 Manchester Piccadilly to Southport service.
This location may one day see the North and South curves reinstated to allow trains from Preston via Rufford, to access Southport, and the Merseyrail electric service extended from Ormskirk to Burscough Bridge.

Originally numbered E3118, the loco was withdrawn from service in 2004 and was subsequently scrapped at Booths, Rotherham.

EPS 37601 - Folkestone Harbour.0 viewsAs the tide begins to come in, 37601 sits on the viaduct at Folkestone Harbour with the Pathfinder Tours 'Atomic Harbourmaster' railtour on October 20th 2007. Out of sight at the other end of the train was fellow EPS class 37, 37603. This was one of the last diesel hauled trains to traverse this line. The itinerary on that day included a trip along the Dungeness Branch. It was a long day - an 06.15 start from Crewe on Saturday morning and only getting back to Crewe at 01.24 on Sunday morning!Dec 10, 2015

This was a time-honoured Summer service that ran out and back on a Saturday running via East Lancashire and Copy Pit.

This was a time-honoured scene at all major stations - now sadly consigned to history. The 08 was new from Darington Works in October 1962 numbered D4184, its first home was at Ebbw Junction (86A) and it was tranferred to Laira (84A) in May 1971.Nov 07, 2015
