483001 - withdrawn at Ryde St Johns Road.0 viewsVarious cars of 1938 stock were reformed due to defects and accident damage, an appraisal of service requirements and the need to provide a pool of spare parts, saw four individual cars withdrawn from service in 1998. The cars were stripped of bogies and reusable items, and the remains were placed in the car park at Ryde St Johns Road awaiting disposal. A far cry from the fanfare and celebrations when 001 entered service in 1989, the pioneer unit lies rusting in July 1999. It was scrapped in April 2000.

Class 14 D9531 at Rawtenstall.2 viewsD9531 stands at Rawtenstall whilst running round on September 28th 2013. Designed and built at Swindon for trip working, shunting and branch line working, the 56 strong class (A Pannier Tank replacement), emerged from the famous A Shop during 1964 and 1965. They were to be the last locomotives built for British Railways at Swindon Works, and unfortunately the very work that they were designed for was evaporating as they entered traffic due to the Beeching cuts.
